Home Con News WCA 2017: LUCIFER WonderCon Roundtable Interviews

At this years WonderCon event, held at the Anaheim Convention Centre, stars of some of the biggest films and television shows gathered to showcase the latest series and freshest upcoming pilots.

As part of the convention, cast and crew also take part in roundtables to share their time with members of the press – AEISD contributor Dan Berry was lucky enough to be invited to a number of these and recorded interview material for us to share:

Dan Berry: “My last roundtable of WonderCon was for LUCIFER, which will be back soon with the last five episodes of Season 2. In attendance for this roundtable were Lesley-Ann Brandt (Mazikeen), Kevin Alejandro (Detective Daniel Espinoza), Rachael Harris (Dr. Linda Martin), and Executive Producers Ildy Modrovich – who tastefully complimented me on my shirt! – and Joe Henderson. During the roundtables, we asked Joe and Ildy if there would be more characters from the comics, and Joe replied that there will be an easter egg coming up soon for fans of the books. Ildy also mentioned another easter egg on the way, but rather frustratingly wouldn’t go into full detail on it – no matter how hard we tried…!!”

(NOTE: all roundtable footage recorded by Dan Berry was filmed under press accreditation for the Mulderville.net site. We reproduce the interview footage here with their kind permission.)

LUCIFER is an American fantasy police procedural comedy-drama television series developed by Tom Kapinos that premiered on Fox on January 25, 2016. It features a character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, taken from the comic book series The Sandman, who later became the protagonist of the spin-off comic book series LUCIFER written by Mike Carey, both published by DC ComicsVertigo imprint.

The series focuses on Lucifer Morningstar, the Devil, who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles. Lucifer runs a nightclub in Los Angeles called “Lux”, with the assistance of his demonic ally Mazikeen. Lucifer becomes involved with the LAPD when he begins to assist Detective Chloe Decker in crime cases. He becomes fascinated with Decker when she appears to be immune to his powers. God’s wife later escapes Hell, and Lucifer’s punishment for her is to stay on Earth, and the celestial family are forced to deal with the ramifications of this.

In April 2016, Fox renewed the series for a second season, which premiered on September 19, 2016. On February 13, 2017, Fox renewed the series for a third season of 22 episodes.
