Home News From The 'Verse Trailer: THOR: RAGNAROK goes full video game aesthetic in new International Trailer

If there’s one aspect of the design of Marvel StudiosTHOR: RAGNAROK that has been the most appealing, it’s the neon-drenched promos we’ve seen in the run up to its November release. Now, a Japanese ‘International trailer’ takes that manga colour palette and ’80s video game aesthetic and goes full Namco with it.

Featuring new full-blown dialogue from BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH‘s Doctor Steven Strange, promising that we’re going to see a lot more than the small cameo teased as the end of his own movie, we’re thrown into clips that we’ve already seen – but the subtitles and localised narration gives the previously gothic arm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe a brand new ‘Insert Coin’ injection that I’m, frankly, very much up for. And, if the clip that we were shared in Hall H this past July is anything to go by, the final product also going to get a dry, wicked streak of Kiwi humour, too – bring it on.

THOR: RAGNAROK is the seventeenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, written by Eric Pearson, produced by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and directed by New Zealand director Taika Waititi. It sees Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the God Of Thunder, with Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk) alongside Brits TOM HIDDLESTON (Loki), IDRIS ELBA (Heimdall) and ANTHONY HOPKINS (Odin) all returning to the franchise; the film also has new additions in the forms of Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) and Cate Blanchett (Hela) rounding out the cast. After the events of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, Thor – held captive on the planet Sakaar without his hammer – must win a gladiatorial duel against an old friend — the Hulk — in order to return to Asgard in time to stop the villainous Hela and the impending Ragnarök, the doom of the Asgardian civilization. THOR: RAGNAROK is scheduled for a 3rd November 2017 U.S. release – no raven yet has been sent on a European release date.
