We’ve already seen a glimpse of what director Peyton Reed and his cast have got planned for his second installment of his ANT-MAN story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, courtesy of an Instagram post from Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne) – the costume of The Wasp is a definite upgrade from the clunky industrial aesthetics of Paul Rudd‘s suit as we’ve seen in 2015’s ANT-MAN and 2016’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.
At last night’s BLACK PANTHER Red Carpet event, Marvel posted teasers of the impending release of the first trailer for the sequel – and, true to their word, here we go. And we didn’t just get a first look, either, we also get a fresh new poster, one that shows that the Marvel PR machine still loves its negative spaces and tiny bugs gags.
The film isn’t due for a while, a few weeks before San Diego Comic-Con, so fully expect the con to be a-buzz about the new release. (‘A-buzz’. Oh gods, I am so sorry.)
ANT-MAN & THE WASP is the upcoming sequel to the 2015 chapter of the Marvel Cinemantic Universe, ANT-MAN. Directed by Peyton Reed, and written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari and film star Paul Rudd. Rudd reprises his role as Scott Lang, the current wearer of the Ant-Man uniform, invented by Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym. Set after the events of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Scott Lang tries to balance his home life as a father with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, when Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank Pym present him with a new mission to bring to light secrets from their past, requiring him to team up with van Dyne as the new Wasp. Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip ‘T.I.’ Harris and David Dastmalchian reprise their roles, joined by new cast members Walter Goggins, Michelle Pfeiffer and Laurence Fishburne. The film is due for a U.S. release on 6th July 2016.
