Trailer: STAR TREK Fan Event reveals new BEYOND trailer and posters
Los Angeles saw the start to the ramp up to Paramount‘s celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of STAR TREK with a whole host of revelations about the latest installment of its rebooted cinema incarnation, STAR TREK: BEYOND.
While the film’s co-writer SIMON PEGG and fellow Brit IDRIS ELBA (the film’s baddie) weren’t in attendance – something that I’m certain killed the pair of them! – director Justin Lin was on hand, alongside stars Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock) and Karl Urban (McCoy) and executive producer J.J. Abrams. The presentation was made up of a whole raft of special moments for the hardcore fans in the audience, including a number of big reveals about the new film.
Firstly, Lin announced that the World Premiere of the film would be at San Diego Comic-Con, in an incredible IMAX presentation – the first outdoor premiere for the format – AND would be accompanied by a concert presentation of Michael Giacchino‘s score by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.
Then, Lin showed the latest trailer for the film, which had a less rock’n’roll vibe than previous glimpses and more of a traditional TREK atmosphere to proceedings, with callbacks to previous chapters of the reboot and a more operatic, dynamic sense of the film.
Fans were also shown the latest poster for the film – an image of the Enterprise, blasting through a clouds background – and also presented with their own keepsakes of the event: a poster that harked back to the Bob Peak poster for 1979’s STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, as well as invites to the World Premiere event! Fight you for them!
