We know, pretty pumped, right? Of course you are. And it’s proven by the views numbers reflected in the teasers we’ve had so far just how eagerly anticipated this film is, with the first trailer garnering a whopping 151 MILLION views on the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel – people are ready to see all of Marvel’s heroes come together to face down the franchise’s over-arcing ‘big bad’, Thanos, in what promises to be quite the grudge match. But the Big Purple Floaty Chair Man isn’t going to make it easy for everyone, not judging by the latest look at the film, released today.
Ego collide (Robert Downey Jr‘s Tony Stark and Chris Pratt‘s Peter Quill, butting heads over the best course of action, as to be expected), armies amass (we’ve already seen shots of Thanos’ forces rolling towards the borders of Wakanda, but not to this scale as yet), and the over-riding sense of dread is piled on as we get the scale of what Thanos is wanting to achieve: the annihilation of half of the galaxy. To what means, we have yet to find out – but long-time comics fans will be wondering if we get to see the embodiment of Death at some point in the two-film INFINITY WAR saga.
It’s big, it’s epic and it’s got plenty of potential to be the biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe film to date… Although, it’s going to have to bloody go some to take over the current standing box office heavy-hitters of MARVEL’S AVENGERS $1.51b and BLACK PANTHER‘s $1.18b takings. Will it possibly hit such heady heights? We’ll find out when the film drops worldwide on the 27th April… no, wait, we in the UK are getting it one day early, on the 26th, aren’t we? [insert smug face here]
In the meantime, check out our gallery of screencaps from the trailer – damn, it looks pretty!
