Get ready to polish your wands, wizard fans – magic’s back.
It’s been four years since Warner Bros. Pictures has had a bumper HARRY POTTER payday from a cinema audience but they are confident that they will reclaim some of that financial reward when they ‘invite you back to the wizarding world’ this time next year.
In fact, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM will have been out just under a month at this point, scheduled for a 18th November 2016 release, giving director DAVID YATES and his production team a whole year to polish off the no-doubt grandiose visual effects required to bring J.K. ROWLING‘s Potter spin-off to the big screen.
This first teaser doesn’t reveal too much about what beasts we can expect to see but we do get a small glimpse of the havoc they wreak on U.S. soil (with COLIN FARRELL looking particularly concerned) – yes, not only do we not have any mention of a certain Chosen One in this (don’t hold your breath for any Potter lip service – the film is set in 1926, remember) but we also won’t be heading back to Hogwarts, either, this time round.
What we do get are a few shots of the American equivalent of the Ministry Of Magic – the Magical Congress of the U.S.A. – and of the suitcase containing said Beasts, ready to break loose. EDDIE REDMAYNE is tasked with reining in the chaos and very dapper he looks, too, in the film’s first poster, unveiled on the film’s Facebook page.
Expect a panel line-up and a half when Warner Bros. bring FANTASTIC BEASTS to Hall H next Summer…
