Home News From The 'Verse Trailer: bustin’ makes you feel good in first look at Paul Feig’s...

The critics of t’interwebs have been out in force, ever since GHOSTBUSTERS director Paul Feig was announced as the helmsman behind the reboot of the beloved 1984 classic.

From his choice of cast – the all-girl lineup of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones – to Feig’s intended tone of a more real-world interaction between man and spirit, to even the suggestion of making the damn thing in the first place… The knives have been sharp and the vitriol bitter.

However, here at AESID, we are more forgiving of any notion of reviving the franchise until we’ve actually seen the finished film (hell, we were even prepared to give FANTASTIC FOUR the benefit of the doubt before its release). Not only that, but Feig has been continually entertaining via his Twitter feed, either in his defence of his production or just with some witty banter. And now, at least, we get to see exactly what he’s been up to.

This first trailer doesn’t bring anything spectacularly new – and, indeed, most of the jokes don’t materialise fully formed – but at least we’ve now seen the characters talk and interact: McCarthy performs her usual schick and there’s slime ahoy, and even an riff on another supernatural classic, THE EXORCIST. It’s an initial glimpse, people. Let’s not bury the film just yet.

The 2016 reboot of GHOSTBUSTERS is a Sony Pictures production, from a script by original creators Dan Aykroyd, Ivan Reitman and the late Harold Ramis, along contributions by writer Katie Dippold and the films director Paul Feig. Starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnonLeslie Jones, Elizabeth Perkins, Andy Perkins and Chris Hemsworth, the new team come together to save the world from a mysterious evil and powerful demon when ghosts invade Manhattan. The film is scheduled for a 15th July, 2016 international release.

  1. […] The opinion of the fans may be mixed, the attitude of the director may be bullish and we may not know how the chemistry of the new all-female cast of Paul Feig‘s GHOSTBUSTERS 2016 reboot – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones – will gel once they’re all booted, (boiler)suited and tooled up but one thing’s for certain: they can look pretty cute when they want to be. And Funko can prove it! […]
