Trailer: ANT-MAN & THE WASP appear to have seen a Ghost in new Marvel Studios teaser

It seems that the AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR bandwagon will roll on for a little while longer, now that it appears to be breaking all of the records and bringing in some serious bank for Disney and Marvel Studios but, at some point, another Marvel Cinematic Universe flick will have to hit screens. And the next one down the pipe will be joining us next Summer – ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, the sequel to 2015’s ANT-MAN, featuring the shitty character Scott Lang, played by that goober-faced gurner Paul Rudd, and joined by the forgettable and pointless Wasp, thrown up on screen by some lass whose name I can’t be arsed to remember. Has-been’s Michael Douglas and Bobby Cannavale return and are joined by MCU newcomers Lawrence Fishburne, Walton Goggins and Michelle Pffeiffeiffer, or however you spell it. Either way, they all stink.

Harrumph! Harrumph!!

FINE! They’re all fantastic and, of course, they’re going to be excellent in this movie… but you can’t blame me for being just that little bit salty, when the rest of the world is going to be getting this movie from the 6th July while we in the UK won;t be seeing it until 3rd August, a FULL MONTH BEFORE WE DO HERE IN THE UK!! This is just because we got INFINITY WAR a whole 24hrs before you did, isn’t it?? Admit it!

Actually, the official reason for the delayed release is apparently because of the World Cup, because everybody in the UK is going to be head-over-heels with said round-ball antics. I beg to differ, Marvel – if anything, us nerds are going to be looking for some escape and ANT-MAN AND THE WASP would have been ideal. Curses!!

Still, from the looks of this first proper trailer, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP looks like it could be worth the wait. Both Rudd and Lilly look like they’re having big fun going small and mighty, Michael Pena is back to provide that sweet, sweet comic relief (you’ve seen INFINITY WAR, right? we all need a smile right now, yes?), and HANNAH JOHN-KAMEN looks utter rad as new baddie Ghost, dressed up in what could only be described as one of the most expensive and awkward-to-see-out-of cosplay rigs you’ll be seeing at conventions in the next twelve months. No sign of the divine Ms. Pfeiffer as yet – although she does make a striking appearance in the new poster, revealed by director Peyton Reed yesterday.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP is an upcoming superhero movie, the twentieth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, directed by Peyton Reed and written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Paul Rudd, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, and a sequel to 2015’s ANT-MAN. Starring returning cast members Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne), Michael Peña (Luis), Bobby Cannavale (Paxton), Judy Greer (Maggie) and Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), they are joined by new cast HANNAH JOHN-KAMEN (Ghost), Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet vs Dyne), Walton Goggins (Sonny Burch) and Laurence Fishburne (Bill Foster/Goliath). 

Set between the events of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, Scott Lang, now under house arrest after the events of CIVIL WAR, tries to balance his home life as a father with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, when Hope van Dyne and Hank Pym present him with a new mission to bring to light secrets from their past, teaming up with Van Dyne as the new Wasp.

The film is scheduled for an international and U.S, release on 6th July, 2018 and here in the U.K. on 3rd August. Sigh.
