Home News From The 'Verse Comics Titan Comics reveal details on Tenth, Eleventh & Twelfth ‘Doctor Who’ tie-in...

our cup o teaTitan Comics have unveiled their first efforts as current owners of the Doctor Who comics franchise, as announced last year – two lines are to be released simultaneously in July featuring the likenesses of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor. A third book, featuring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, will be arriving once that character has gotten settled on screen, later in the year.

The publisher is pulling out all the stops with some powerhouse talent filling the books creative teams: Nick Abadzis (writer, The Amazing Mr Pleebus/Laika) and Elena Casagrande (artist, IDW Publishing/Marvel) will be taking on the initial arc of the Tenth Doctor stories, with Robbie Morrison coming in for the second batch.

Also released concurrently with the above will be a second line featuring Matt Smith’s The Eleventh Doctor with Al Ewing (writer, 2000AD), Rob Williams (2000AD/IDW Publishing) and Simon Fraser (artist) at the helm – they’re also the creative team that will oversee the Doctor Who franchise for Titan, providing a unified backbone to the project.

The third book, featuring the adventures of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, will come later in the year, once the show, and indeed the actor, has found a voice and direction for the character – we may be waiting some time for that to get properly established! No creative team announced for that book yet, understandably…

The gorgeous covers have been painted by Alice X. Zhang and will prove especially popular at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con – which is handy, as the books will be commercially released as of the Wednesday of Con week. Expect plenty of copies floating around, begging to be signed…
