ACTION LAB ENTERTAINMENT Releases: Wednesday 9th March 2016

Each week, we take a look at the forthcoming ACTION LAB titles available in stores and in digital, giving you a comprehensive guide to your comics pull list.

Heading into the fantastical and the out-of-the-ordinary… It’s almost ACTION LAB’s stock and trade, isn’t it? The publisher very much goes off the reservation and into uncharted territory, however, with this weeks releases –  one of which is really scratching my old AD&D itch from my school days…

  • BIGFOOT: SWORD OF THE EARTHMAN has Josh S. Henaman, Andy Taylor and Tamra Bonvillian stretching their legs as the hunt gets underway – our two main characters really breathe in this issue, as we develop some brilliant characterisation in what is a vividly rendered romp. It’s a book that doesn’t mess about and is full to the brim. The exposition is a little heavy-handed in places and you’re introduced to a whole raft of new elements throughout, but that’s what this issue does so you have to suck it up and roll with it. Sweet pay-off, mind.
  • …and Gary Turner and Mel Bontrager don’t let up their own throttle, either, as they get into the second issue of I, MAGE, a book that I fell in love with, pretty much from the first pages of issue #1. It’s just so well done: Turner has created a cracking world here, not underserving any element, the dialogue is sumptuous and you really want to spend time with these adventurers, but Bontrager is the MVP of this title, believe me. It’s very cool imagery (no pun intended): think TRON meets DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. (Sold!)

Interested? get yourself down to your LCBS and check these books out, especially if you have a young ‘un in tow (BIGFOOT for the older, more patient offspring, I, MAGE for the entire brood.)
