We get a very quick first look at next year’s Blade Runner 2049 today. Harrison Ford is back to reprise his role as Rick Deckard from the original Blade Runner. Right out of the gate we hear a young Harrison Ford’s quote from the first film, “Replicants are like any other machine. They’re either a benefit or a hazard. If they’re a benefit, it’s not my problem.” Giving us those nostalgic feels from the original cult classic.
The visuals put together by cinematographer ROGER DEAKINS and director Denis Villeneuve in this trailer were grand and prodigious. I’m looking forward to the final product these two come up with. Villeneuve last few films, Arrival and Sicario, have been some of my favorites that I have seen in the theater in a long time.
We see our new blade runner officer K, Ryan Gosling, searching for Rick Deckard in what looks to be a post-apocalyptic landscape. Harrison appears to have the drop on Gosling and lets him know he used to do his job once. Gosling delivers a great line, “Things were simpler then.”
