Home News From The 'Verse Exclusives & Collectibles STAR WARS: Topps announce new trading card collection for THE LAST JEDI

Just when you thought you were all STAR WARS-ed out… Last night saw the midnight openings of stores worldwide for Force Friday II and this brand new day sees a whole raft of Porgs, Poes and evil BB-9E’s littering your timeline. Well, prepare yourself for more because collectibles company Topps are also jumping on the train to tempt you with a whole new range of trading cards, featuring brand new characters and classic icons from the saga’s rich legacy.

With over 200 cards in the new set to collect, completists are going to be going frantic to land the full collection, featuring characters, planets, spaceships and stories from the latest addition to the STAR WARS universe, THE LAST JEDI, due to hit screens this December. The set will feature stylised artwork including fun facts and character biographies on all the soon-to-be fan favourites from this new film, as well as cards that will look back at “the rich heritage of past iconic heroes and legendary moments that have defined one of the greatest film sagas of all time.” What, even Porkins? He was great!

There will also be collector cards out there, in the wild, to really kick off those playground trading sessions and/or lightsaber battles which are, frankly, so much more fun than conkers. These limited editions join a further set of exclusive cards out there as there will ‘special foil cards, exploring the legacy of the Jedi’. Ooh, this is all starting to ring with an air of finality for our space wizards, isn’t it?

Louise Ramplin, Head of Entertainment Marketing at Topps, speaks to this new set of cards: “We are really excited for the release of our brand new Star Wars collection, JOURNEY TO STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. This exciting collection is sure to be an instant hit with collectors and movie-goers off all ages, as it is a great introduction and teaser to the upcoming film released in cinemas this winter.”

Sounds cool. The packs will be found on shelves soon at £1 each – there’s no announced release date in the press release but no doubt it’ll be in the next couple of weeks – and starter pack will be available at £4.99, which will also include a collector binder, poster checklist and one packet of cards, including one limited edition card. To find out more about the collection, visit www.toppsdirect.com and, for the latest updates, follow @MyTopps on Twitter or visit https://www.facebook.com/MyTopps.
