Home Con News NYCC 2017: Diamond Select Toys cast a spell over New York Comic...

For next months New York Comic Con, those there Diamond Select Toys boys and girls, they’ve only gone and knocked it out of the (central) park again. After SDCC, did we expect anything else, really?

DST delivered some truly spectacular Marvel Gallery pieces to San Diego but for New York, they’ve turned to a hero that is truly synonymous with the city, what with the Sorcerer Supreme’s sanctum located down one of its more upscale streets – a Marvel Gallery ASTRAL FORM DOCTOR STRANGE Diorama comes to NYCC in a stunning 12″ tall PVC figure which we think is truly… magical! (oh gods I am so sorry oh gods oh gods)

The fully translucent figure – hovering above the ground in a resplendent pose, hands outstretched, mid-spell cast, possibly wondering when he can next get a cup of Darjeeling – comes in a full colour presentation window box which, we all know, will get shuffled away to a cupboard somewhere. There’s no way this thing doesn’t belong out of the box and on a shelf for everyone to see!

This is if you can lay your hands on one, mind: the figure clocks in at $50.00 – affordable enough… – and limited to only 250 pieces. Curses! This will just fly off the shelves when the show opens on Thursday 5th October.

Still, while you’re visiting the Diamond Select Toys Booth (#1644), you can also check out the display cases filled with upcoming items, including figures from JUSTICE LEAGUE, THOR: RAGNAROK, KINGDOM HEARTS and PACIFIC RIM UPRISING (which we already know will be getting its trailer debut at the show).

And, AND, you can check out the DST gang in person when they host their annual panel presentation in Room 1A05 on Friday night (6th October, 8pm) when Product Manager Robert Yee and sculptors Jean St. Jean (cool name!!) and Eli Livingston take to the stage to talk about upcoming figures, answer fan questions and possibly give out free DST swag to the best questions. Like, wasn’t Eli Livingston Jeff Goldblum’s dad in INDEPENDENCE DAY?? I could’ve sworn…

It sounds like Diamond Select Toys are representing in the Big Apple in a big way – check them out when you get on the floor in just a few weeks.
