The team behind Nerdist’s BIZARRE STATES podcast (Jessica Chobot and Andrew Bowser) are taking their podcast and making it into a six episode weekly video series. BIZARRE STATES: LOS ANGELES will have them investigate some creepy and haunted locations in Los Angeles including Griffith Park, The Devil’s Gate Dam, and more. Today, Bizarre States podcast hosts Jessica Chobot and Andrew Bowser finally exit the podcast booth and enter the field, in the all-new series Bizarre States: Los Angeles. For three years the Bizarre States podcast has delighted fans of the paranormal, the extraterrestrial, and all things generally spooky. In this new series produced by Nerdist for the premium content service, Alpha, Bizarre States brings a new dimension of entertainment to fright fans by bringing cameras to the best real haunts of Los Angeles and Southern California in time for Halloween.


Bizarre States: Los Angeles stars longtime hosts Jessica Chobot and Andrew Bowser as they bring their supernatural smarts and skills to a variety of spooky locations in the greater Los Angeles area. They will break down the specifics of each creepy site, interviewing experts, and relating their own personal findings as they get to the bottom of the funny, the weird, the haunted, and the unexpected.


Bizarre States: Los Angeles is a six episode weekly series featuring the hosts traveling to such infamous locations as The Devil’s Gate Dam, where occultist Jack Parsons attempted to conjure the otherworldly; notoriously haunted luxury cruise ship The Queen Mary, home to “the lady in white”; Griffith Park, where victims of the “hillside strangler” were discovered; The Grand Warner Theater in San Pedro, site of alleged ghostly encounters; and a variety of scenes of reported UFO sightings as well as the exact spots where historical, lurid, and headline-grabbing murders have occurred all around Los Angeles.


“I’ve had a fascination with the mysteries of the world from a very young age and being able to bring that passion forward as entertainment for others is a dream come true,” said Bizarre States co-host Jesscia Chobot. Co-host Andrew Bower added, “Being in the field investigating all things bizarre and paranormal, especially with a partner in crime like Jess, has been exciting, spooky, and surprising – in all the right ways!”

Jessica Chobot has been co-host of the Bizarre States podcast since its inception in 2014. She is also the host of Nerdist News, Nerdist News Talks Back, and Mothership in addition to being the writer of the survival horror video game, Daylight, and an enthusiast of nerdy pop culture.


Andrew Bowser co-hosts Bizarre States and is an in-house director for Nerdist. He’s also the creator and star behind the internet persona Onyx the Fortuitous also knows as “The Weird Satanist Guy” proving he’s no stranger to the supernatural.
