Behind The Scenes: TOMB RAIDER ‘Becoming Lara Croft’
The poster has been deconstructed, the trailer has been dropped… the promotion machine for the latest big screen adaptation of TOMB RAIDER is well and truly up and running, with the first of what we’re sure will be many ‘behind the scenes’ shorts being posted by Warner Bros..
The reason why we’re able to see so much of the promo material now, while director Roar Uthang is deep in post-production, is the quantity of real-world stunts that star Alicia Vikander put herself through during filming at titular adventurer Lara Croft, including that nifty spinning dive into a raging waterfall.
“We have a lot of water sequences. I spent my last two days of shooting in a tank, and that was my 16th total day being fully drenched or submerged in the water,” said Vikander in a promotional interview for the film. “For one action scene, we used the London venue for Olympic rafting. They threw me down that river — with my hands tied — about 50 times. I didn’t need to act, just react!”
Bring it on. For more peaks behind the curtain, make sure you subscribe to Warner Bros. Pictures on YouTube and we’ll make sure we post the best ones on here, too, as we thunder towards TOMB RAIDER’s release next year.
