With the increase of the number of streamers (both on Twitch, and other platforms), there has been an increase in the number of video capture devices to help them get their streams out for the world to see. While I was at TwitchCon, I got a chance to see firsthand one of the newer ones on the market, and talk to the people behind the Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus.
The Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus from AverMedia combines “an all-new capture card with 4K capabilities for on-the-go recording and content streaming.”
The unit was a breeze to hook up with the included HDMI and USB cables, and the RECentral 3 software was very simple to configure the way I wanted to set up a streaming screen for viewers. So, whether you want to share your console gaming, PC gaming, or even iOS gaming, this unit has you covered.
For those who want to record while they are away from a computer, the LGP2 also has you in mind, with a portable mode. It handles this via a microSD slot, so you can set the unit to PC-Free recording (they recommend using a microSDHC Class 10 card).
I can’t wait to try the PC-free mode and see how that fares. But judging from how easy and well it performed with a PC-mode, I think it will be a breeze.
