Home Con News SWC: Star Wars Celebration, skipping 2018

Today, in its Closing Ceremony at the Orlando event, ReedPOP and Lucasfilm confirmed that Star Wars Celebration will be taking an hiatus for 2018, which is a bit of surprise considering it’s been a hugely popular (and highly profitable) annual event for the past three years.

We actually knew about the break with a post being put up on starwarscelebration.com prior to this weekends shenanigans but we were hoping for more details at today’s Closing Ceremony. With only the still-bloody-untitled-thought-we-were-going-to-get-THAT-this-weekend HAN SOLO stand-alone movie coming out in 2018, this break is even more of a surprise. The date and location for the 2019 event haven’t been announced yet, but with the new STAR WARS episode film (and Star Wars land at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World) landing that year, the major promotion push could coincide with those dates, we say.
