Now, this is more like it. It has to be said, while the already announced Special Guests for this July’s San Diego Comic-Con (Thursday 19th – Sunday 22nd July 2017; Preview Night, Wednesday 18th July) are recognised and reputable names in the fields of literature and comics, with one or three exceptions, they’ve not been people that would be recognised by the average person on the street. Well, with the latest batch unveiled by Comic-Con International today, that all comes to a change with a couple of superstars that would be mobbed if they wandered out on to the Exhibition Floor escorted.
Marc Bernardin is obviously the well-versed sidekick to Kevin Smith on their weekly podcast, Batman On Fatman, as well as being a regular contributor the CCI’s own Toucan Blog with a very well-informed series of industry articles; Terry Moore is one of the most acclaimed writers of YA fiction working today; and, the one and only Mike Mignola is the brainchild behind HELLBOY, the supernatural romp due to return soon to the big screen with David K. Harbour playing the big red lug.
Rounding up the new announcement is award-winning writer E.K. Johnston, who will join the chaps making their way to San Diego this summer, along with the previously announced Cory Doctorow, Emil Ferris, Brian Fies, Alex Grecian, R. C. Harvey, Nalo Hopkinson, Larry F. Houston, Lynn Johnston, Paul Levitz, Jason Lutes, Scott McCloud and Jeff Smith – impressive stuff, indeed.
Todays announced Special Guests are:
- MARC BERNARDIN: Writer: THE AUTHORITY / THE HIGHWAYMAN / CASTLE ROCK
- E.K. JOHNSTON: Author: THE STORY OF OWEN / A THOUSAND NIGHTS
- MIKE MIGNOLA: Writer / Artist: HELLBOY
- TERRY MOORE: Writer/Artist: STRANGER IN PARADISE XXV / ECHO / RACHEL RISING
Boom! Mic drop… And this is just the start, really. Back again next week for even more names to tie to the mast, courtesy of Comic-Con International – we’ve added this lot to our Special Guest indexes of the SDCC Utility Belt pages which you can find below. We’ll be back next Monday – will you?
