SDCC 2018: DOCTOR WHO materialises into San Diego Comic-Con; Jodie Whittaker and cast make historic panel appearance
Sonic screwdrivers at the ready – it’s an epic ‘Our Cup O’ Tea’ post, with plenty of CAPITALISED BOLD Brits representing…
Well, this is a turn-up for the books. Not only will BBC America be bringing DOCTOR WHO to San Diego Comic-Con next month (Thursday 19th – Sunday 22nd July; Preview Night, Wednesday 18th July), they will also be making Whovian history by bringing to the convention a whole new Doctor, before she’s even been seen on screen.
BBC America have revealed that the upcoming Thirteenth Doctor, played by Yorkshire lass JODIE WHITTAKER, will be joined by fellow cast members TOSIN COLE and MANDIP GILL (starring, as well as new series showrunner CHRIS CHIBNALL and executive producer MATT STREVENS in a panel to be hosted by the one and only Chris Hardwick. (So, that’ll be Hall H, then.)
There’s no fixed details as yet as to when the panel will be held – however, WHO presentations have traditionally been held on the Sunday so Whovians would be advised to keep their plans free for that day. Along with a large chunk of their Saturday evening, too: last years emotionally charge panel featured the last SDCC appearance of outgoing Doctor, PETER CAPALDI, alongside STEVEN MOFFAT, PEARL MACKIE, MATT LUCAS, MICHELLE GOMEZ and writer MARK GATISS, to a packed house, full of tears and love from the lucky fans that made it inside.
It’s safe to say that Hall H this year will be filled with a similar air of excitement and anticipation, as fans get the chance to meet for the first time the first female Timelord to helm the TARDIS. And a Northerner, too. Don’t worry – Yours Truly will be on hand to translate, if required…
