We are only a few weeks out from the epic event that was San Diego Comic-Con 2016, and Comic-Con International would no doubt like you to start on that #SDCC2017 hashtag, but AEISD has heard word from a friendly reader that may just have you reaching for the two-year calendar: we may just have the dates for San Diego Comic-Con 2018 already.
We’ve broken news like this before, of course, and the info has come to us the same way – via the San Diego Convention Centre website. The facility is a huge entity, serving some of the biggest conventions on the planet and, to do so, they have to negotiate and shuffle around bookings into place years in advance. Including SDCC.
Discovered on the bookings schedule, a ‘Private Convention with Trade Show’ is listed from the 19th to the 22nd July 2018 with an estimated attendance of 130,000. Now, while the Convention Centre does hold some other pretty huge shows over the summer, the time frame and the very specific numbers – determined by previous attendance listings in years past – do suggest that this one is our very own San Diego Comic-Con.
I don’t think your boss will be filling in holiday dates in the diary, this far out, but at least you’re in the know and can start planning accordingly. And the second the dates are confirmed by Comic-Con International, we will of course let you know. Heaven knows we’ve got to land badges for #SDCC2017 yet…
