Home Con News SDCC 2017: small screen Marvel makes big splash at Comic-Con; AGENTS OF...

People have been wondering what Marvel could be bringing to this years San Diego Comic-Con (Thursday 20th – Sunday 23rd July; Preview Night, Wednesday 19th) in terms of its big screen product, following commander-in-chief Kevin Feige‘s announcement that they would be in town. Others have also asked what that could mean for the small screen output of the company, and how that would all tie together. Today, Marvel Television have revealed what they are showcasing at this years SDCC – and, it’s safe to say, there’s one noticeable absence.

MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D has been a cornerstone of Marvel’s Comic-Con attendance, ever since its first panel, back in 2013 – this year, however, there’s no sign that Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, IAIN DE CAESTECKER, ELIZABETH HENSTRIDGE or any of the rest of the team will be making an appearance, fuelling the fire that the show remains the ‘black sheep’ of the Marvel Cinematic (or Extended, if you will) Universe.

A show that is getting a heavy presence is THE INHUMANS (Ballroom 20, Thursday 20th July, 5pm – 6pm), a show that will be taking the enhanced characters first introduced on television in …AGENTS to the next level – fans will be left wondering if the Agent Coulson will shake the hands of the Avengers ever again!

UPDATE: Clark Gregg has been in contact on Twitter and given us a completely plausible reason for the absence of the show:

Plenty of support for new shows THE GIFTED, THE DEFENDERS and MARVEL’S SPIDER-MAN, however: check out the press release below for the full skinny:

  1. Then I am extra grateful that I saw the Agents of Shield panel last year. My dream is still to meet Ming Na and Clark Gregg but I was happy just being in the room with them last year.

    • You lucky blighter! Although, yup, I’m just glad I was in the room once, back on that first 2013 panel. The electricity in that room…!!
