Comic-Con International have amended their policy regarding children attending San Diego Comic-Con, in connection with their update announcement regarding 2015 Pre-Registration. This information is vital for those who are acting to take their children with them to the event which is, for most kids, nerd Christmas!
Twelve year olds and under have always been non-paying attendees, able to collect a child’s badge when taken along with a paying adult. However, if they attended SDCC 2014 as a child but are now applicable for a Juniors Badge, the Member ID page will be able to determine whether or not they are able to take part in the 2015 Pre-Registration Badge Sale as a Junior, using a newly introduced validation system – please note, a child must be 13 or over on the new cut-off date of August 1st, 2014 to now be valid for a paying badge. Check out the release below for all the relevant information.
(“And now, you are a man/woman, my child. You get pocket money, you get your own damn pretzel!”)
Children age 12 and under are free with a paying adult! Children do not need to register for a Member ID to receive a badge. You may register a child (12 and under) onsite for free at the Attendee Badge Pick-Up Desk if a paying adult accompanies the child. You will be required to provide emergency contact information for any child registrant age 12 and under.
To accommodate the transition from child to junior (age 13-17), we have set a static date to determine who is considered a child for Comic-Con 2014. If you are age 12 or under before August 1, 2014, you do not need to buy a badge for Comic-Con 2015. You may attend as a child, with a paying adult. If you are age 13 or older before August 1, 2014, you must create a Comic-Con Member ID and purchase a badge for Comic-Con 2015.
Did your child attend Comic-Con 2014 and would like to be eligible for Comic-Con 2015 preregistration?
Children who attended Comic-Con 2014 with a paid adult attendee that were age 13 or older before August 1, 2014, are eligible to participate in Comic-Con 2015 Attendee Preregistration! To register for eligibility, follow the appropriate instructions from the options below before October 15, 2104. You will need the physical Comic-Con 2014 child badge to complete the validation process.
OPTION ONE: My Child Already Has a Comic-Con Member ID
If your child already has a Comic-Con Member ID account, log in to their account and select the “Registration Info” tab. If they are eligible to participate in preregistration, click the link that says, “If you attended Comic-Con 2014 as a child, click here to be eligible for Comic-Con 2015 Attendee Preregistration!” Follow the online instructions to complete their eligibility validation.
If the above link is not visible on the “Registration Info” tab, your child’s birthdate is may not be in the correct range for child-to-junior validation. Please check your child’s birthdate on the “My Account” tab under “Membership Type” and make corrections if needed. If you accidentally registered your child as an Adult Membership Type, you will not be able to complete the validation process until you correct their birthdate.
OPTION TWO: My Child Does Not Have a Comic-Con Member ID
If your child has not yet created a Comic-Con Member ID, click here and select the option “New Member ID.” Be sure to select the Membership Type “Junior (13-17)” during the registration process.
After creating and confirming their Member ID, log back in to the Member ID account and select the “Registration Info” tab. Click the link that says, “If you attended Comic-Con 2014 as a child, click here to be eligible for Comic-Con 2015 Attendee Preregistration!” Follow the online instructions to complete their eligibility validation.
The deadline to complete the validation process for Comic-Con 2015 Attendee Preregistration eligibility is October 15, 2014. Your child must complete one of the two options shown above before this date to be eligible to participate in Comic-Con 2015 Attendee Preregistration.
