logo - comic-con (distressed)Today’s Toucan Blog has unveiled the one must-have collectible for any self-respecting Comic-Con International fan: the SDCC T-Shirts for 2014. And they’re available to pre-order right now!

The shirts are only going to be available as a pre-order so, if you’re interested – and why the hell wouldn’t you be? – you can head to the T-Shirts Pre-Ordering Page on the Comic-Con International website, check out the sizes available and get yours bought today. You can only buy the shirts if you have a valid Member ID and are able to collect the purchased tees in San Diego during the dates of this years Con.

This year there are THREE Comic-Con T-shirt designs, including one featuring the stunning Jim Lee Batman design that was revealed the artwork for the cover of this years Souvenir Book. There is also a cracking design from Rick Garry, the artist behind the contemporary take of the CCI mascot – the Toucan – as well as the traditional classic Con shirt, available in both black and a pale pink version for the ladies, new for 2014.

Two additional shirts are available this year which have been produced to raise money, for the Comics Arts Conference and the Comic Book Legal Defence Fund. The Comics Arts Conference is a four-day series of programs “devoted to the scholarly examination of comics”, begun in 1992 and held each year throughout the Con. The CBLDF is “a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the First Amendment rights of the comics art form and its community of retailers, creators, publishers, librarians, and readers” and sales of this years tee, featuring a brilliant Jeff Smith piece of his BONE character, will go some way to contribute to the war-chest of this brilliant organisation.

Now, just like last year, CCI are holding the location to collect the shirts off-site, away from the maddening crowd of the Exhibition Floor, at the Santa Rosa Room in the Marriott Marquis & Marina Hotel. Shirts can be pre-ordered from today until Wednesday 16th July, the week prior to the Con. While CCI do print a fair amount of these up, the actual quantities available are kept a closely guarded secret and in arrangement with the sponsors of the shirt designs (so, this year, DC Comics) and that Jim Lee one is going to prove quite the draw. So, if you’re thinking of bagging yourself one of these fine tees, it’s a good idea to get them ordered sooner rather than later. The Marriott Marquis and Marina can be found adjacent to the Convention Center on Harbor Drive, at the Hall A side of the building.

CCI are going to be opening up the Santa Rosa Room on the evening of Preview Night (Wednesday 23rd July from 6pm-9pm PST) for attendees to collect their shirts before the chaos truly kicks in on the Thursday. Here’s hoping a fair number of these great tees will be seen, littering the hordes on Thursday when the Con opens proper!
