Home Con News CCI: Independent Film Festival 2015 opens entry positions on Oct 1st

One element of the San Diego Comic-Con that sometimes gets neglected by the general attendee is one that, alongside the Eisner Awards, has the most prestige in creative fields: the Comic-Con International: Independent Film Festival. In 2015, the festival returns for the 16th time and, very soon, opens it’s doors to next years prospective applicants.

Last years CCI: IFF was a highly recognised affair, featuring one of the most eclectic and appealing lineups in recent memory, with documentaries, dramas and animations from around the world – including the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, New Zealand, Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Spain, and Trinidad and Tobago – running throughout the entire Comic-Con weekend, along with fascinating workshops and practical panels for would-be film makers.

The judging panel for last year were a brilliant trio of talent: filmmaker Dave Gallegos (editor of the 2013 Judges’ Choice Award-winning film, Incident on Highway 73), actor Doug Jones (Hellboy, Falling Skies), and writer/producer/actress/cosplayer Valerie Perez, who also co-heads the Comic-Con Film School each year. No word just yet on the 2014 judging panel but, as soon as any names are released, you’ll be the first to know.

The application process will be open from 1st October until 2nd February so there’s plenty of time to get the form in but, hey, early bird and all that. So, filmmakers: get the biro ready (okay, okay, it’s 2014; open that PDF in that browser) and fill out that form!
