The main reason we started this website was to keep you up-to-date with the biggest and best news coming from San Diego Comic-Con but the whole approach – SDCC Headlines… From A English Perspective! – also gives us the platform to cover UK Cons the best we can. we set things off a little too late to head down to London for MCM Expo 2013, a fortnight ago.
However, it was always our plan to have, as our big coming out party, all the best coverage of Thought Bubble Sequential Arts Festival, to be held in a fortnights time at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, West Yorkshire. We’ll be bringing you all the news from the panels, as many pics and videos as my iPhone can hold and all the headlines revealed during the weekend. Two weeks and counting. And we simply can’t wait!
This year’s Thought Bubble Festival in Leeds is now only 2 weeks away! From 17th– 24th November, in association with Leeds International Film Festival, Allied London, and Arts Council England, the largest celebration of comics and animation in the UK will take over Yorkshire – a celebration of sequential art in all its forms, including everything from superhero comics to independent and small-press artists and writers.
This year’s festival programme will include free art and writing based workshops for young people and adults, a two-day academic conference, talks and masterclasses led by industry professionals, and a programme of sequential art related film screenings, all building up to a special two–day convention on 23rd & 24th November. The Thought Bubble convention includes an incredible line-up of leading artists and writers, and over 400 tables showcasing the best sequential art has to offer. The weekend will also feature portfolio viewings and competitions, as well as a huge cosplay parade.
Tickets for the convention can be bought online at the Festivals homepage with special discounts for cosplayers, and under-12s entering the venue for free with an accompanying ticket holding parent/guardian. Special guests include Geof Darrow (Shaolin Cowboy), Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire), Kate Beaton (Hark! A Vagrant), and Fiona Staples (Saga) – with many more big names attending a UK show for the first time ever. For a full line-up, please visit the Thought Bubble Guest Archive.
