Home Con News MCM London Comic Con: stars of webseries Morganville, inc. Buffy’s Amber Benson,...

logo - mcm comic conMCM London Comic Con, held at the Excel in London on 24th-26th October, will be the host of the world premiere of the first two episodes of new web series Morganville, as part of the VidFest UK portion of the convention. Presented by Rachel Caine, the creator of the vampire franchise, this exclusive event will also allow attendees to meet and greet with the stars of Morganville, including somebody already familiar to the fantasy genre, Amber Benson.

Benson will be most recognisable to UK fans of fantasy telly from Joss Whedon‘s Buffy The Vampire Slayer, starring as Willow’s ultimately doomed love, Tara. Expect lots of hijacking of any Q&A panel by Buffy aficionados and plenty of diplomatic steering of the topic back to this, Benson’s latest project which, admittedly, has quite the established fan base of its own.

Based on the hugely successful Morganville Vampires novels by author Rachel Caine (fifteen books in the series to date and counting – a number of which have made The New York Times Bestseller List – and a whole slew of online short stories, don’tcha know) and co-produced and written by Caine herself, this new adaptation will have Benson swapping out the spells and potions of Tara and replacing them with the fangs and all the inevitable bloodsucking that entails as she appears as head vamp, Ameile.

Joining Caine and Benson will be fellow Morganville stars – and relative newcomers – Lindsey Siedel and Jordan Tanner Farris. No word in the MCM Expo press release whether these confirmed Special Guests will be appearing for the duration of the con but it’s unlikely that they’ll make the trip just for one day. Any word on that that we find out about, you’ll be the first to hear – including any revelation on the identity of a ‘very special guest’ that will be joining the team.

Morganville is going to debuting on the acclaimed YouTube channel Geek & Sundry, famously founded by other Buffy alumni, Felicia Day… and, while there’s no guarantee that Day will be the ‘very special guest’, it’s no secret that Felicia is quite fond of visiting Ol’ London Town when she can and this might be her opportunity to get some Anglophile pre-Christmas shopping in if, indeed, she does make the appearance. We’ll keep our ears open.

Speaking of the press release:

London Comic Con invites vamps in for Morganville world premiere

Exciting new vampire web series Morganville will be making its world premiere at next month’s MCM London Comic Con. Join bestselling US author and series writer Rachel Caine as she introduces the cast, which will include Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s Amber Benson along with Lindsay Seidel, Jordan Tanner Farris and a surprise special guest!

Debuting on Felicia Day’s Geek & Sundry network in late October, Morganville adapts The Morganville Vampires, Rachel Caine’s hit series of novels set in the vampire-haunted city of Morganville, Texas. Amber Benson, best known as Tara in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, plays lead vampire Amelie, Lindsay Seidel plays series protagonist Claire and Jordan Tanner Farris plays Shane, a hotheaded Morganville native with a hatred of bloodsuckers.

MCM London Comic Con visitors will get to see the world premiere of the first two episodes of Morganville, screening as part of Vidfest UK, the show’s celebration of all things online video. Be there or be vampire dust!
