MCM COMIC CON – BIRMINGHAM 2018
The National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham
Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th March 2018
SPECIAL GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT:
MICHAEL ROOKER (The Walking Dead / The Belko Experiment / Guardians Of The Galaxy)
MICHAEL ROOKER… a man, a man’s man, a man about town, the Man. If there’s a guy that has carved a niche as being the sardonic, rugged and yet sensitive soul in Hollywood… it’s Nick Offerman, let’s be honest. However, if you take away the woodworking and the constant references to a hot wife, and add just a splash of wild rock’n’roll unpredictability, you end up with something that looks incredibly like Michael Rooker.
Alabama-born Rooker is known for a variety of roles on the big and small screen, first catching the attention of anyone who was paying attention – and plenty of those who made the mistake of not – in the breakout role of Henry in HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER (1986). Since then, Rooker has shown up in supporting roles in films such as SEA OF LOVE (1989), DAYS OF THUNDER with Tom Cruise (1990), J.F.K. (1991), CLIFFHANGER with Sylvester Stallone (1993), and under the direction of Kevin Smith in 1995’s MALLRATS. A diverse line-up of roles, indeed.
It is for modern audiences that Rooker is best known, however, as Merle Dixon in the first four seasons of THE WALKING DEAD and as the mercenary Ravager Yondu Udonta in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (2014) and its sequel, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (2017). You’re welcome, indeed.
It is more that likely that Rooker will be taking to the stage with GOTG co-star Sean Gunn at MCM Comic Con Birmingham, this March – frankly, if you haven’t witnessed the whirling dervish that is Michael Rooker in a live setting, it’s safe to say this will be the hot ticket of the weekend. Rooker will also be available for autographs and photo shoot opportunities (autographs, £48; photo session price, £72) – head to the links on our Event Page for the show for full details.
