Home Con News SDCC 2015 Off-Site: NERD HQ confirm venue for 2015 as New Children’s...

logo - nerd hq 2015 (high quality)We already knew that IGN would be the official partner of The Nerd Machine’s Nerd HQ efforts for July 2015. However, now they have taken the step to roll out their intentions for the event, including live streaming, mobile app development and – of most interest for fans – the determined location for this year.

The New Children’s Museum is located at 200 West Island Ave, directly opposite the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina, and is a stylish and contemporary venue which has a reputation of hosting high quality corporate affairs and private functions – bright and well-lit from outside, it should prove to be the perfect fit for The Nerd Machine‘s plans.

Admittedly, it’s a venue that most eagle-eyed fans knew about about already, with a subtle tweet, posted with a pic taken outside when the organisers scouted the New Children’s Museum a month or so back, but it’s great for attendees and fans to finally get confirmation. From here, it’ll now be a case of keeping a very close eye on both Nerd HQ‘s social media, and their new mobile app (due for launch in just over a fortnight’s time) for details of panels, guests and the means to land those elusive tickets, priced at around £15 per panel ($22) and all being sold to raise funds for Zachary Levi‘s long-time supported charity of Operation Smile.

Here at AEISD, we find the wording of the release very interesting as it appears that IGN are issuing a clarion call for those who were unable to land badges for the main San Diego Comic-Con event, as well as calling out Comic-Con International for the lack of streamed content for these very fans. With free entry, big name celebrity draws for intimate panel experiences and live YouTube content, Nerd HQ are continuing to position themselves as the Alternative Comic-Con event of choice – no idea how that might go down with Legendary and their Nerdist/Geek & Sundry partners, setting up shop in Petco Park, literally just down the road, but it’s going to be fun to watch these two Off-Site Events battle it out for people’s attention!

More details as we get them…

From the IGN post:

The Nerd Machine And IGN Will Help Bring The Con To The Fans Who Can’t Make It To San Diego. (27th May , 2015)

Zachary Levi and The Nerd Machine’s Nerd HQ will return to San Diego Comic-Con this July, making its home at the New Children’s Museum for the four-day pop-culture mecca. We’ll be streaming all of Nerd HQ’s Conversations for a Cause panels on IGN as well as on our YouTube channel. The streams will also be available on TheNerdMachine.com and the Nerd HQ App. IGN will also be hosting its own live stream throughout Comic-Con.

Nerd HQ provides fans a free retreat during the con, with the New Children’s Museum’s creative venue providing a 35,000 square foot, three-floor space that will host an expanded Conversations For A Cause panel series, fan-focused interactions, and exclusive hands-on game play with a number of this years’ biggest titles.

Previous Conversations for a Cause panels have hosted talent such as Joss Whedon, Richard Madden, Tom Hiddleston, Tatiana Maslany, Nathan Fillion, Sophie Turner, Andrew Lincoln, Lauren Cohan, Jeff Bridges, Seth Green, Jared Padalecki, Katee Sackhoff, Guillermo del Toro, Vin Diesel, Kellan Lutz, Dylan O’Brien and Norman Reedus. Tickets for panels are $22 (, and all proceeds raised through ticket sales go directly to the non-profit organization Operation Smile whose mission is to help improve the health and lives of children across the world.

The Nerd HQ app, powered by IGN, will have a complete schedule of Conversations For A Cause, IGN-managed stage events, parties, maps and more. Also included within the app will be links to buy tickets for the Nerd HQ panels and push notifications that will inform users of special events like the “Smiles for Smiles” photo opportunities. Once downloaded and registered at Nerd HQ, guests will receive a collectible Nerd HQ wristband and the Badge of the Nerdolution. They will also be eligible for various exclusive incentives and prizes only available to registered visitors. The Nerd HQ app can be downloaded for iOS and Android on June 12th, 2015.

And due to popular demand, the Nerd HQ fan party has been extended to two nights: Thursday, July 9th and Saturday, July 11th. All are welcome! For all the latest information on Nerd HQ 2015 at the New Children’s Museum in downtown San Diego, keep your eye on IGN and The Nerd Machine.
